When graphically attempting to select a component in a subassembly, the entire
first-level subassembly is selected. The QuickPick will not even display for
the option to select the component.
How to graphically select a component in a subassembly without selecting the
entire first-level subassembly.
Solution
This is the result of having the Select Scope set incorrectly.
If the Selection Scope is set to 'Within Work Part Only', then only items
within the workpart can be selected. Since a component in a subassembly is not
in the workpart, it cannot be selected, or be an option in QuickPick for
selection.
However, the first level subassembly is in the workpart, so it can be
selected. This is why the entire first level subassembly is selected, instead
of just the component in the subassembly.
The Selection Scope needs to be set to 'Entire Assembly' so components in the
entire assembly can be individually selected.
