Summary

Details

The text "THRU" is automatically added to Hole Callout dimensions if the selected hole feature is a through hole.

Solution

In NX 10 and NX 11, the "THRU" text can be removed from the Hole Callout by selecting the dimension and using 'MB3 - Settings', on the 'Hole Callout' page uncheck the 'Depth' option under 'Parameters'.

Note: If the hole feature is subsequently changed to a blind hole, the Hole Callout does not update automatically to include the depth value. The depth value will need to be enabled by checking the 'Depth' option within 'Settings'.

The only way to prevent the 'THRU' text from being added automatically is to uncheck the 'Depth' option in 'File - Utilities - Customer Defaults - Drafting - General/Setup - Standard - Customize Standard - Dimension - Hole Callout - Threaded Hole'. However, this will suppress/hide the depth information from all new Hole Callouts created after the Drafting Standard changes have been applied.

In NX 12 (and later releases), the dimension 'Settings - Hole Callout' dialog contains a 'Through Hole Text' field that allows the text to be edited or removed.
There is also a 'Through Hole Text' customer default that allows the Through Hole text to be defined (or removed). This default is located under 'File - Utilities - Customer Defaults - Drafting - General/Setup - Standard - Customize Standard - Dimension - Hole Callout - General Hole/Drill Size Hole/Screw Clearance Hole/Threaded Hole'.
