Hole milling operation is machining large holes in a casting with a relatively
small tool. There is just a skin of material to remove in the bores, but the
engage always wants to start at the center and wastes a lot of time traveling
across the empty space to reach the cut.
Solution
Since there is no IPW to define the material to be cut, the hole milling
operation assumes the entire hole is filled with material. Adjust the Start
Diameter of the feature to reflect the little bit of stock actually there and
make sure that the Start From Center option in the engage is turned off. This
will let the tool engage near the edge of the bore to make the cut.
