Solid Edge SolidWorks migration fails because of insufficient permissions

A customer tries to migrate some SolidWorks data, but the process is stopped with the message: "Access Denied. You do not have sufficient permissions for this operation".


They tried to copy all data to the C:/temp folder, but it still does not work. 
Solid Edge and SolidWorks are installed on the same machine.



Solution

Did the customer install the SolidWorks migration? This is not needed or even recommended anymore. If so, then uninstall the SolidWorks migration. 


Then install Solid Edge on the same machine as SolidWorks and for a single file use 'file/open' or select the 'SolidWorks Data Migration' from "All programs" -> Solid Edge ST9 for larger data sets.
