You have correctly created Search Scopes in SharePoint and added them in the
Searchscope.txt, but when you try to find the related files with 'Where Used'
you get the message 'cannot connect to library'.
Solution
1. Check first if the entries in Searchsope.txt are correctly defined.
For Example:
http://insightserver/wip/wipdl/ http://insightserver/rel/reldl/ http://insightserver/obs/obsdl/ SearchServerApplicationNameURL =
http://insightserver BeginURL
SearchServerApplicationName = "Search Service Application"
BeginScopes
All Sites
Solid Edge
EndScopes
EndURL
The Scopes should not feature quotes e.g."All Sites"
2. If this is correct then go to the Insight Server and reset the Sharepoint
Server Index:
SharePoint Central administration -> Application Management -> Manage Service
Application -> Search Service Application -> Reset Index
3. Run Configure Insight Search:
Microsoft Application button - Programs -> Insight Server for Sharepoint
Foundation 2010 -> Configure Insight Search
Check if "Add required managed metadata properties" is set
Check if "Add required managed file types" is set
4. Do an IISReset
5. Do a manual Crawl:
SharePoint Central administration -> Application Management -> Manage Service
Application -> Search Service Application -> Content Sources -> Start all crawls
This should fix the problem.
