Solid Edge Cannot convert Synchronous Thin Part to Sheet Metal

I have imported a sheet metal part from a third party application into the Synchronous Part environment.  When I come to transform it to a sheet metal part using the 'Thin part to Synchronous Sheet metal Part' command I get the following message:
The error message does not give any indication of what the cause of the problem might be.  How to identify the problem and resolve it?

Solution

In this instance the cause of the problem is that the part contains two bends which are touching each other. 



This is a limitation of Synchronous - having two bends that do not have a plate between them is not allowed. 

To resolve this issue you need to transition to Ordered and switch from the Part to the Sheet Metal environment.  Then use the 'Thin Part to Sheet Metal' command to convert the part to sheet metal.
