The NC Machine Tool assembly is in Teamcenter, however the NC Machine Tool is not listed in available machine tools while using NX Managed Mode.
Solution
Step 1 - Prior to importing NX data, save all the files in native in order to be able to us "As Saved" during the import into TC.
Step 2 - While in NX Managed Mode, select Menu-->File-->Import Assembly into Teamcenter...
Step 3 - Set the Item Type to a type that is most common in the assembly.
- It is best to do this in small chunks in order to make changing the necessary Item Type less cumbersome. Start with the machine assembly and set the Item Type to"Resource" this is what the components of the machine should be.
- Set Name and Attribute Conversion (Please see image below)
- Set your load option (Find Components) to be "As Saved" (please see image below)
- Expand "Other Parameters" and select a location (Folder) where you want the
items to go in Tc. For this example I created and selected a folder named ULA. (Please see image below)
NOTE: This is a folder but not a folder similar to the OS style folders.
It's being used as a collector
- Select "Select Assemblies or Part" then navigate to where your parts
are stored on the OS.
- Select your "Machine Tool" where the kinematics are defined. (Please see image below)
Note: The listing of the parts to be imported will be displayed.
- Find one or more parts that will be different Item Types than Resource. Select the drop down next to Resource and select the appropriate Item Type. In the image below, the Machine Tool was selected and the Item Type was set to MENCMachine.
- Double click in the field(s) that display "Double-click to assign" in the ID column to set the correct value. (Please see example image below)
Note: Validation will need to be performed prior to adding the data to the Teamcenter database.
- Select "Validate Teamcenter Information" to validate the added parts and Teamcenter data. (Please see the image below)
- Select "Dry Run" to view the import information and what will occur once the import is done.
Note: The "Dry Run" log will appear. Review the log and continue.
- Run the Import Utility...Select OK...(Please see image below)
Note: The Machine assembly is imported into the Teamcenter Database. The data, in our example, is in the ULA Teamcenter folder. (Please see image below)
Note: The next set of data to be imported is the fixturing.
