We use Teamcenter and NX and we have some parts that don't have geometry like liquids, powders, and paint. Part numbers with 3D datasets, which contain no geometry, are used as place holders in assemblies. Since we save all of our data in NX with the JT option turned on is it possible to create jt files for these non geometry parts?
Solution
If you have parts with no geometry then yes a JT won't be created, unless you use the multicad environment variable (UGII_GENERATE_MULTI_CAD_JT=1).
This environment variable writes a JT file for each part in the assembly structure. These JT files store the geometry, PMI, views, CAD attributes, and metadata information defined in an NX part. It also writes a JT file for each subassembly and top assembly in the assembly structure. These JT files store the geometry, PMI, PMI associations, CAD attributes, and metadata information defined at the assembly or subassembly level in NX.
It is also recommended that customers using NX and Teamcenter run this environment variable regardless.
Finally, starting with NX11 you can set this preference in the translator config file and not use the environment variable if you want to. The setting is structureOption=MULTICAD .
