Summary

Details

When using 'Offset Curve' within a Sketch and edges of the model are selected to create the base/recipe chain for the curve offset, the following alert may be encountered and the Offset Curve cannot be created:

"Offset is not well-defined for given parameters."

Solution

This issue can be overcome by selecting the Sketch in the Part Navigator and using the right-hand mouse button menu option 'Settings', and enabling the 'Use Solving Tolerance' option. This applies the tolerance shown in the field below when creating the recipe curve in the sketch from the selected edges:

In most cases it is not necessary to enable the 'Use Solving Tolerance' option, however it may be required where the nature of the selected edges results in small gaps being created between the curves in the recipe curve of the Offset Curve. Enabling the 'Use Solving Tolerance' option and setting the Tolerance accordingly will prevent any such gaps in the recipe curve, and the Offset Curve can be created successfully.
