Solid Edge Display assemblies in Parts Library Preview interactively

In the Parts Library Preview window it is possible to interact to zoom and rotate part files.  However, you cannot interact with assembly files - only a static image is displayed.  Is it possible to configure the Preview window to also interact with assembly files?

Solution

Interaction with assembly files in the Parts Library Preview window is turned off by default.  This is for performance reasons - attempting to interact with a massive assembly could result in unresponsive behaviour.

However, it is possible to turn on interaction with assembly files in the Parts Library Preview window.
 
In the Parts Library pane, right-click in the white space.
 
Select Preview:


In the Preview dialog under Assemblies click Interactive:


Select OK to save the change:


Now the assemblies will be interactive in the Preview pane:
