There are circumstances where the entry 'Standard Parts SAC file' in the Solid Edge options tab 'File Locations' is not maintained. If, after defining and saving the entry, you reopen the tab and the entry is empty indicates it might be an issue with not having enough rights to write into the registry.
Solution
After the definition of the path in Solid Edge options, we expect to see the entrance 'SMAPfolder' pointing to your Standard Parts folder in the following parts of the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Standard Parts
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Siemens\Standard Parts\Version 219
First check if both entries exist and point to the appropriate folder. If one or both entries are missing, the user might not have enough rights to edit the registry. You can modify the rights for the key that does not have the entry 'SMAPfolder' with a right-mouse-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER. In the short-cut menu that appears click "Permissions..." and give the user full control.
After that the user should be able to define the Standard Parts folder in Solid Edge options.
