Summary

Details

After upgrading Solid Edge and Solid Edge for SharePoint from ST8 to ST10 it is not possible to publish Solid Edge for SharePoint Workflows with SharePoint Designer 2013 if the workflow contains an "IF" action.

The Error "Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run." occurs.

Solution

This Problem does not only happen with Solid Edge for SharePoint Workflows but also with out-of-the-box "IF" actions and is caused by a .NET Security Update.

The behavior can be solved via a PowerShell script which adds the necessary types to all web applications' web.config files.

Check out the web link for more information and details to create the script:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4465015/sharepoint-workflows-stop-after-cve-2018-8421-security-update

The script can solve the problem on SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013.
