NX X How to create PMI surface Finish symbol without selecting an object?

Steps to reproduce


User needs to place a PMI surface finish symbol in one of the modeling views without selecting associated object (e.g. in Drafting, we can place surface finish symbol without selecting any object).


Please let us know how we can achieve this.

How to create PMI surface Finish symbol in modeling without selecting an object?

Solution

1. Create the stand alone required surface finish in drafting.


2. Define it as a custom symbol using Define custom symbol option.


3. Using PMI custom symbol insert option, you can add them without associated objects in modeling.
