In some cases users are experiencing an issue where, intermittently, NX would fail to start with an internal security error -96. Also a side symptom, when NX would run, but the user would perform a step translation, they would receive a licensing error: "license error, server not connected 10004 ".
Look for a combination of CCleaner, MalwareBytes, and Symantic firewall; all can be causing intermittent connection issues with the license service even though the service is running on the same machine.
Recommend removing CCleaner and MalwareBytes, and setting a TCP Inbound rule for port 28000 in Symantic.
