Is there anything that can be done to "fix" a Synchronous sheetmetal part when edits are always failing with error messages?

Solution

1. Save the test case model out to Parasolid and then read it back in as a
.par Part file
2. Now in the part environment perform a Copy Surface/Chain Option and copy
all the internal surfaces of the part, including loops (holes & cutouts)
3. Delete the Body Feature and Thicken the chained surface body to the desired
 sheet metal thickness
4. Switch to Sheet Metal and utilize the Thin Part to Sheet Metal command to
transform the part to sheet metal now providing sheet metal attributes to the
 model
5 Your flange can now be moved and additional flanges can be added to the
existing ones
6. Since you no longer have the Features from the previous model, you can just
use Recognize Holes to get the hole attributes back
7. This now is a workable Synchronous model and only takes a few minutes to do
