The color of the geometry in a part file has been modified but when the assembly is opened the component does not show the same color, why are the part and the component not the same color?

Solution

NX can show components parts as a different color in the assembly than in the original part file. For example, allowing multiple instances of the same component to each have a different color in the assembly for clarity.

When the color has been modified in the assembly a subsequent change to the  color of the geometry in the original part will not automatically be shown in the assembly.

There are two methods to remove the color change in the assembly level to bring the part and the components back to the same color.

Right Click on the component in the Assembly navigator and select Properties.
In the Assembly tab turn OFF the option for "Specific Component Color"

Alternatively there is an option in File > Utilities > Part Cleanup to remove all component display changes for the entire assembly

Once the component and part are the same color and you wish to make a change to the color in both the assembly and the part you should ensure that the part is the Displayed part and not just the work part when you edit the display.
