Software not launching. No errors.
Solution
The first thing to do is install ALL patches. That is the resolution for some V14.1 issues.
Secondly, if the machine is made by HP, the problem could be the 3D DriveGuard system. It is controlled by a file called "HPDSKFLT". It can cause problems if it is loaded in the registry more than once. If so, you should delete the duplicate registry key.
This is how to remove the duplicate entry:
1. Click Start, type regedit into the search field, and then select regedit.exe from the list.
2. In the Registry Editor, locate the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967- E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}] registry key.
3. In this registry key, look for HPDSKFLT.sys. If there are two HPDSKFLT.sys files, delete one.
4. Reboot the PC.
Another name for HP 3D DriveGuard is "Accelerometer". If it is not working, remove it for testing purposes, then see if the software works without it. The Youtube video below shows how to remove and how to install the new version.
