When trying to run NX you may receive an error that the vendor daemon is down or not responding?
Solution
There are multiple types of license files, make sure you are not trying to run the NX license server using a node locked license file. You can verify this by reading the license file; a server based file will have the word "server" as the first functional line in the file not commented out by a " # " character. If you do not have a "server" line, then most likely you have a node locked file.
This type of file can only be used on the machine that matches the "HOSTID=" portion of the feature line. Simply set SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER=<PATH TO LICENSE FILE> and NX should run normally.
