Details
After importing a PDF file into Draft the display result was unacceptable and
of poor quality. After checking w/development the following was learned:
The PDF is inserted into Draft as an OLE object. We ask OLE for an EMF (or WMF
if the server does not support EMF) to display. We have no control over what
the server returns. We are displaying what Acrobat is returning. If I use
Insert Object in Word, I see the same thing.
Solution
The PDF is inserted into Draft as an OLE object. We ask the OLE server (the application used to display that object type) for an Enhanced Metafile or EMF (or WMF if the server does not support EMF) to display. We have no control over what the server returns. We are displaying what Acrobat is returning. If you use
Insert Object in Word, you will see the same thing.
As an alternative, there is an application available called "Scan2CAD" which converts the PDF to an acceptable DXF format, which could then be imported into Solid Edge with a much better display result.
