NX Client machine cannot checkout NX when connected remotely (i.e. from home)

A client machine cannot run NX when working remotely.  Teamcenter runs fine. 

Client machine can ping the license server, but cannot launch NX. 
Whether launching NX from inside of Teamcenter or NX NATIVE, the error says: 

"License Error: License Server machine is down or not responding. 
Check that SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER is set correctly.[-96]".

The client machine's environment variable SPLM_LICENSE_SERVER is set correctly. 
The client machine has no problem running NX when in the office - both docked at his desk and via WIFI.


It was determined the situation is client machine specific. The client machine has a satellite internet service, and apparently that does not play well with the VPN. The user's client machine found a hot spot and that corrected the issue.
