Solid Edge Solid Edge freezes or takes long time while closing

Details

Solid Edge starts and operates normal but when trying to close the application Solid Edge Freezes and does not close - all other windows applications operate normally. The only workaround is to use Task Manager to close application.



Solution

Solid Edge had not actually frozen during closing but it was merely being delayed.


The user had switched on the setting to "Capture Settings and Preferences on Exit" in Solid Edge Options > User Profile; so that when Solid Edge closed with long delay while the users templates and settings were being collected and compressed into a *.sepref file. 

Once the backup was complete Solid Edge would close normally.


With the setting unchecked, Solid Edge closes normally without any delays.
