Summary

Details

Have a reusable object defined by a revolved sketch. This is added to an
existing body by drag and drop onto a flat face. During the definition of the
"Reuse Paste", i.e. position, boolean operation etc. the orientation of the
reusable object appear to be under control. But when finally OK is picked in
the Reuse Paste menu the revolve feature of the reusable object fails to
update and the sketch seem to have been reattached to a different sketch
plane, the plane the reusable component was dropped on.

Why is this happening? How to prevent this?

Solution

In NX there is a built in function when dragging a reusable object containing
one sketch to a face. The sketch is reattached to the drop face.

The way to solve this is to turn off this built in sketch plane auto reattach.
This is done by setting REUSE_POSITIONING_METHOD = NORMAL as a part attribute
in your reusable object part file.
