How to change a dimension to Manual Text in NX9 and later Ribbon User
Interface.

Solution

In the NX9 and later Ribbon User Interface, select 'Menu -> Edit -> Annotation
-> Text'.
Select the dimension value and upon deleting the value a warning message will
appear.
"Editing the dimension value will convert the dimension to a dimension with
manual text."
Accept this message, insert the required numerical value or text and press
"OK" to complete the edit.

NOTE: Manual dimensions are static and will never automatically update or
alter based on changes to the model objects.
