Can you define an adjustable assembly's conditions when it is placed two
levels deep?

Solution

Yes, you can have an adjustable assembly as a subassembly to a subassembly.
You need to make sure that all levels in between the current level and the
level which you wish to control from the current level are set to adjustable.
You do this by right mouse clicking on the subassembly in PathFinder and
selecting Simplifed/Adjustable -> Adjustable Assembly. Then repeat this for
the next level down.
