NX for Design

Summary

Details

When loading a structure-only assembly with 3 to 4 levels of subassemblies,
the column of "Descriptive Part Name" is not displaying the complete name
after expanding the structure.

(1) In Customer Defaults > Assembly > General > Miscellaneous tab, the
"Structure Update on Expand" is OFF.
(2) Load an assembly with 3 to 4 sub levels into NX using Structure Only load
option.
(3) Configure Assembly Navigator column to show "Descriptive Part Name" as
first column and Object as second column.
(4) Expand all levels of subassemblies.
Notice the name shown under the Descriptive Part Name is not complete, also
notice the Object column does show the correct completed name.

Is the display for Descriptive Part Name working as designed?

Solution

The "Descriptive Part Name" uses cached values unless the part is loaded, so
the behavior is as expected. Meanwhile, the "Object" column is Teamcenter-based
information on all components, that's why they show complete information.
