Balloons on the alignment shape overlap.
Solution
If you click on the Alignment Shape, a command bar will come up. The second button is the Alignment Shape Properties. The General tab has an entry for Minimum spacing. This controls the minimum distance between balloons (imagine a line between the center of two balloons).
