The license file supports 1 permanent license for Plant Simulation and 8 licenses that will expire in time.
This license is "Floating" and therefore does not require an option file.
The problem is only the 1 permanent license can be used. The other 8 cannot.
When more than 1 license was used, the error received was:
Professional License: The license expired on date XX-XXX-XXXX!

OR
Professional License is not available.
License server machine is down or not responding. (-96)

Solution
The solution is you need to use the latest version of license server software when you upgrade to the latest version of license file. Upgrading only the license file is not enough.
Download and install the latest version of the license server software from the GTAC FTP support site.

Aim the license server at the new license file.
Stop then restart the server software.
