FAQ: How to store .stp (STEP) files in a Teamcenter dataset?

Solution

In this example, please use an NX ugmaster dataset containing a SolidModel.
1) From the NXmanager session, export the STEP file to OS via File=>export >
STEP.
The STEP file will have a .stp extension.
2) Create a new UGpart (or UGmaster) dataset to store this .stp file.
From the Teamcenter session : File > new > dataset.
Use UGpart dataset .Enter a dataset name. Select 'import...' to select the
.stp located in the OS.
This dataset will be used to just store this stp file in Teamcenter.
The import will not perform a convert/translation on the fly.
This would just be for storage .
3) An export of the stp file (from Named References) could take this file back
out to Native. (if the STEP file is going to needed for translation/import
into other CAD pkg.)
4) You may want to rename this UGPart dataset to 'native_step214'.
