Unable to read the Solid Edge 2019 FlexNet License Manager Server from the Solid Edge Client machine.
There seems to be a firewall blockage problem reading the Solid Edge FlexNet License Manager, this problem still exists even after creating Exceptions for a new inbound rule within the firewall for lmgrd.exe and selmd.exe and rebooting the Server.
Solution
The Windows Firewall offers three firewall profiles: domain, private and public. The domain profile applies to networks where the host system can authenticate to a domain controller. The private profile is a user-assigned profile and is used to designate private or home networks.
In some cases the customer's IT may have to review the Windows Network connection on the Server which is supporting the Solid Edge FlexNet License Manager. Windows will let you set each network you connect to as either a "Private" or "Public" network. By default the customer Network connection may be set to a "Public" option and not a "Private". To resolve the issue it is suggested that the "Private" option be selected.
On Private networks, Windows enables network discovery features. Other devices can see your Windows computer on the network, allowing for easy file sharing and other networked features.
On Public networks–like those in coffee shops–you don't want your computer to be seen by others, though, or share your files with them. So Windows turns off these discovery features. It won't appear to other devices on the network and won't try to discover them.
