Unable to get a Solid Edge Floating License to run on a Virtual server.

Solution

When setting up a Solid Edge Floating configuration for a virtual Server environment, it is suggested to use a Unique Host ID license setup. However if you must use the Solid Edge Floating configuration on a Virtual server with a dongle you with have to be familiar with your machine's Virtual PC List settings which vary on different operating systems. Please review the instructions listed below:

1. Start your virtual machine (through the VM software) and click the "Virtual PC List" on the top left

side of the main menu.

2. Select the "Settings" button to bring up the list of available settings for your virtual machine.

3. Select the "USB" button about halfway down the page of settings. A window will appear. Click the "Enable USB" option to turn it on. You will need to restart the VM, so click restart.

4. Plug your USB dongle into the USB port on the computer and the virtual machine will now have access to it.
