With a Solid Edge maintenance pack copied into the base Solid Edge media "Solid Edge" -> "Update", running a silent install of base Solid Edge is then not automatically installing the maintenance pack as expected. Why?
Solution
Copying a maintenance pack into the "Update" folder on the Solid Edge base media will automatically install the maintenance pack as soon as the base Solid Edge install has been completed. However, this method only works with the GUI based Solid Edge install methods. For a silent install, this automatic maintenance pack install method will not work.
Instead, for silent install methods, the maintenance pack silent install command should be called separately as part of the overall silent install routine.
