Details
By default documentation sever port is 8282 and Solr port is 8283.
I believe that both the ports should have seamless connectivity between the server machine and client machine. Am I right?
One of our customer had reported that 8283 port communication was not performed between client and server machine. (Only 8282 port is communicating)
Still the documentation including search is working fine at the customer end.
Is really 8283 port communication is required?
Solution
The client interfaces with the documentation server, and in turn, the documentation interfaces with solr (through a localhost connection). There is no direct access from client to solr.
Interpretation of the above statement is that two ports are required.
But a customer can change the ports during installation, if necessary. In case if one of the default ports is in use by another product.
