Intermitent problem with remote users connecting to Solid Edge FlexNet License Manager across State Lines and Country Borders.
Solution
Most of the time this issue is related to a FlexNet Timeout, VPN or Firewall issues.
The performance and response times would be dependent on or based on VPN connection over a DSL/CABLE or WAN Line and security options. This VPN connection would have to exist for both the License Server and Manager database. You may resolve the problem by creating or increasing a "FLEXLM_TIMEOUT" variable for Solid Edge . This will give you more time to connect through a Firewall or Network from outside the company.
To Increasing the "FLEXLM_TIMEOUT" variable, on the Client Machine go to the advanced System Properties from Control Panel and create a new "Environment Variable" under the System Variables list. Select the New button and key-in the following:
- Variable name: FLEXLM_TIMEOUT
- Variable value: 1000000
