Details
1. Create a 'Note' in NX drawing with the Font 'kanji'. The Note should have Dot (.) in it.
2. Export the drawing as CGM.
3. Import the CGM created at step 2 into a new NX file.
You will notice the results as follows:
In NX8.5: All objects of dot appear as type 'Line'.
In NX9 and onwards: Dot appear as type 'Spline'.
Solution
A change was made in NX9 to improve efficiency when importing a Polyline with more than 2 points. If user wants to have the behavior like NX8.5 i.e. wants to import the polyline (dot) as 'Line' in NX9 and onwards, then set the below environment variable before starting NX.
UGII_CGMI_NO_SPLINE_FOR_POLYLINE=1
Note: However, this will result in the many lines/arcs that were being produced.
