Are there any differences between installing Solid Edge by using the installer .exe file or by using the installer .msi file?
Solution
Yes, there are differences between installing Solid Edge by using the .exe or by using the .msi installer file.
Installing Solid Edge using the installer .exe file will also install any needed prerequisite software.
Installing Solid Edge using the installer .msi file will
*not* install any needed prerequisite software.
For ST10, the prerequisite software installed by using the installer .exe file is:
- Key Shot
- .NET 4.5
- Silverlight
- Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable
If you already have these above listed prerequisites installed then you can use either the .exe or .msi installer file to install Solid Edge.
If you do not have all of these above listed prerequisites already installed then you should use the .exe installer file. If you used the .msi installer file you would be missing some of these prerequisites.
