Details

In Drafting, how do you add the translucency to geometry during creation of a shaded view or edit an existing shaded drafting view to have the translucency?

There are 2 scenarios :

 1) You could have set your part's translucency in Modeling Application then add a view in Drafting
with rendering style to Fully Shaded under shading option. However, you don't see the translucency.

 2) Your part does not have the translucency set in Modeling but you want to add a  shaded view in Drafting with translucency.

Solution

In scenario 1, to ensure that the translucency in Modeling maintains in drafting view, you need to make sure this setting under Preferences --> Drafting --> View -> Workflow -->Visual Settings --> Toggle on
"Use Translucency".

In scenario 2, if you want to edit the translucency of an existing shaded view, select Menu --> Edit --> Object Display --> Select the solid in the view --> OK --> Open Shaded Display to edit the translucency using the slider bar.

Of course in order to make scenario 2 to happen, you need to make sure that you have the Preferences --> Drafting --> View --> Workflow -->Visual Settings --> Toggle on "Use Translucency".

Note: When this setting is turned off, all shaded objects in every member view of the drawing appear opaque, regardless of their individual translucency settings.
