Solution
While creating a mapped mesh, to activate the mesh density control, it is necessary to select the "preview" button available in the "previev and modify mesh constraints" frame.
Lozange shaped symbols will appear on the edges of the surface selected for meshing. By selecting those symbols, it is activated the field where it is possible to choose how many elements must be created on the edge.
The choice of the element number ca be repeated on any edge and as many times as needed to get the desired result. After every editing, the preview button must be selected in order to update the temporary mesh and evaluate the meshing result.
When the mesh is satisfying, the OK button must be selected in order to save the result.
