Plant Simulation

Summary

Details

PlantSimulation allows for the drag and drop of DWG files as a background of a frame. If not prepared properly, the background may be all black or have very thick lines.

Solution

The process starts when creating views on a Drawing Sheet. This can occur when creating the Drawing Sheet or by creating a View on an existing Drawing Sheet.

The needed options can be set at creation time (View Creation Wizard).

It is recommended that hidden lines be set to invisible and the smallest width available. In addition, the preview style should be Wireframe.

Then select ‘Settings’ on the dialog.
Turn off (uncheck) ‘Create with Centerlines’ under Common -> General.

Set line width to the smallest possible width under Common -> Visible lines.
Set line width to the smallest possible width under Common -> Hidden lines.

Set line width to the smallest possible width under Common -> Tracelines.

Set line width to the smallest possible width under Common -> Smooth Edges

Set line width to the smallest possible width under Projected -> Arrow

Set line width to the smallest possible width under View -> Shipbuilding Lines

For an existing Sheet, select all lines/views. On the View tab, select ‘Edit
Object Display’.

Set line width to the smallest possible width.

The display of View Borders must be turned off. The View Borders will display as fat lines regardless of the setting.

In 'File -> Preferences -> Drafting' dialog uncheck
'View -> Workflow -> Border -> Display'.

When exporting to DWG, the DWG must be created as Modeling mode and not Layout mode. If generated in Layout mode, PlantSimulation will load it as a solid black square.

In addition, the data should be exported as 2D.

Although exporting in Modeling mode, the Drawing should be exported and not the Model Data.

To reduce the visual clutter, one can remove overlapping entities.

Once exported, the DWG should import into PlantSimulation with fine lines.
