I have a part with a hole which I want to pattern. In the rectangular pattern
sketch I create a 'connect' relation between the midpoint of one of the
horizontal lines of the pattern sketch (X direction of the pattern) and the
hole centerpoint.
Subsequently when I try to edit the width of the pattern (X direction) I am
unable to do so. Why?
Solution
This is working as designed. Since the center point of the top line of the
pattern rectangle has been constrained, the width cannot be changed since the
width is adjusted from the right side of the pattern rectangle, but the center
point constraint requires the line to be symmetric about the center point. If
you were to constrain the left end point (instead of the center point) of the
top line of the pattern rectangle, you would be able to change the width.
The workaround - should you wish to apply this connect relation - would be to
change the pattern rectangle to be the desired width before constraining the
center point of the rectangle line.
