Symbolica Updating an NX string expression value from NX spreadsheet

You may have the use case where you need to drive the value of an NX string expression from a cell in the NX spreadsheet. You have created the string expression in NX and then used the NX spreadsheet --> Add-Ins --> Extract Expr tool to bring the expression into the spreadsheet.

Solution

In the cell (B4 here) that will be driving NX use the following string:


CONCATENATE("""",C4,"""")


where cell C4 is the cell with the string value you want to send back to NX


Cell B4 will show the contents in quotes but it will correctly update the NX 
part when "Update NX Part" is performed after selecting your choice in the 
drop down menu.

The value in the Expression dialog will now be updated to the string value specified in the spreadsheet
