NX NX part file containing a simple cylinder has an excessive file size

A NX part file containing a model which basically only is a cylinder has a file size of more than 10MB.

Solution

The part file size can on rare occasions increase is due to display facets in the part file. In this case, the display facets have facets for out-of-date faces. These facets are bloating part file size.

To overcome this following procedure can be used:
1. Open part
2. Preferences --> Visualization
3. Performance --> Facet Cache, Facet Regeneration group.
4. Set the scope appropriately, enable "Delete Saved Display Facets"
5. Press "Regenerate Facets" button.

6. Save part. The part with display facets will still be a lot smaller.



In a typical case the file size after following the procedure is reduced to 
less than 1MB.
