Generate a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) PDF, CGM or Plot, Based Off Monitor Display.
Solution The line widths shown when generating a 'File -> Export -> PDF', 'File -> Export -> CGM', 'File -> Plot', and so on are not intended to replicate widths shown in the graphics window, and are not intended to be WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
Each supported width setting (0.13 mm, 0.18 mm, 0.25 mm, etc.) is mapped to an output (displayed) width. Each form of output uses its own mapping.
1. The width mappings used by 'File -> Export -> PDF', 'File -> Export -> CGM', and 'File -> Plot' produce output widths in physical millimeters or inches.
2. The width mapping used in the graphics window produces output widths in screen pixels. (See the Width Scale setting on the Line tab of 'Preferences -> Visualization'.)
The user can control each mapping independently, but cannot designate that the mapping for one form of output should be used for another form of output.
For the default setting of the Width Scale option, the following pixel widths are used in the graphics window.
Width Pixel Setting Width
0.13 mm 1
0.18 mm 2
0.25 mm 3
0.35 mm 4
0.50 mm 5
0.70 mm 6
1.00 mm 7
1.40 mm 8
2.00 mm 9
So, if the user wishes to simulate graphics window widths in PDF output, they can set PDF output widths to reflect the ratios of graphics window widths. That is, the user can set the PDF output width for 0.13 mm to a desired value, and can then set the other PDF output widths to multiples of this value according to the above ratios.
Notes and References This works in all releases of NX that can generate a PDF file.
