When defining a plane for a Lightweight Section View, the 'Reverse' option is
grayed out and unavailable. How can the Lightweight Section View be reversed to
the opposite direction if the 'Reverse' option is grayed out?

Solution

When creating a Lightweight Section View, the plane can be created as either
associative or non-associative. This is controlled through the following
preference:
1. Select 'Preferences-->PMI-->PMI'.
2. Select the 'Lightweight Section View' tab.
3. Toggle on or off 'Associative Plane' as desired.
4. OK the PMI Preferences dialog.

If choosing to toggle off the above option and use a non-associative plane, the
'Reverse' option will stay available while defining the section plane directly
on the Lightweight Section View dialog.

If choosing to toggle on the above option and use an associative plane, the
'Reverse' option will gray out and become unavailable. There are two options:
1. If the associative Section Plane is defined directly from the Lightweight
Section View dialog, simply select the 'Plane Dialog' icon under the Section
Plane group. On the Plane dialog, select 'Reverse Direction'. Then OK the Plane
dialog to see the Lightweight Section View update.

2. If the Section Plane is defined using the 'Plane Dialog' option, the
'Reverse' option will initially gray out and become unavailable on the Plane
dialog. Simply OK the Plane dialog to return to the Lightweight Section View
dialog. Then re-enter the Plane dialog using the 'Plane Dialog' icon under the
Section Plane group. On the Plane dialog, select 'Reverse Direction'. Then OK
the Plane dialog to see the Lightweight Section View update.

The behavior is as follows:
•If the plane is non-associative, then options on the Lightweight Section
View dialog can be used.
•If the plane is associative, only geometry (for example, curves or points) can
be defined outside the Plane dialog. To specify any other attribute of the
associative plane (such as 'Reverse') the 'Plane Dialog' needs to be used. This
is because in the case of an associative plane, the plane is completely
dependent on the geometry selected. So, the plane can update only through a
geometry change or edit of the plane definition using the 'Plane Dialog'.
