The NX syslog shows the Darwin version, not the OS X version.
Solution
When running NX on the Apple platform, up to and including NX8.5, the syslog
lists only the version of Darwin that is in use, and not the Mac OS/OS X
version.
Darwin and OS X are closely related, and this webpage has a good explanation of
the relationship between the two:

This behavior will be changed in a future release of NX so that the syslog will
display both:
*** test.syslog
*** system log created by user on Wed Jan 1 00:00:00 2013
