NX for Design

Summary

Details

When importing an AutoCAD DWG (*.dwg) file into NX, nothing is imported. Even
though the import was successful, the DWG file imports as an empty file.

Solution

If the DWG file was directly exported from AutoCAD, make sure the DWG was not
created from an AutoCAD 3D SOLID. AutoCAD 3D SOLIDS are not supported
in DWG files for NX.

To work around the issue, in AutoCAD, the 3D SOLID could first be converted to
surfaces. Then the surfaces could be exported to the DWG file for import into
NX. Or another translator could be used such as IGES or STEP.
