None of the external translators start reporting:
The Java Runtime Enviroment (JRE) was not found.
Install your own JRE and set UGII_JAVA_HOME
in C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX\\ugii\ugii_env.dat
to the directory containing the bin and
lib directories.

Solution
Per the documentation, the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is not shipped with NX, but NX does require JRE 8 for certain products.
Check to see if Java has already been installed by opening the Java Control Panel (Windows Start --> Control Panel --> Java) and select the Java tab. Select "View" to determine which versions of java are installed. If the product column lists a value that meets the minimum requirement make a note of the path listed in the Path column.
If the Java Control Panel cannot be found, or the version installed does not meet the minimum requirement, download the latest version of java from
http://www.java.com. Note that 64-bit NX requires that the 64-bit version of java is downloaded. Make a note of the path where java was installed.
Once java has been installed, edit UGII_JAVA_HOME in the NX environment file: ugii_env_ug.dat, and enter the path (from either of the two cases above) to the location where java was installed, for example:
UGII_JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\java\jre7\
Alternatively you can set UGII_JAVA_HOME as a Windows Environment Variable.
Restart the external translators and verify that they now work.
