Jumps in residuals and/or monitor plots are noticed when resuming a solved simulation to continue the solve
When a solution is resumed from a solved case, a jump in values of the residuals and/or monitor point plots are noticed before the values stabilize again(refer image below). This is noticed especially in Joule Heating and Conduction only simulations.
One of the main reasons for this behavior is that the results fields are always written as single precision (even when the double precision solver is used). Rounding errors can occur when the solve is continued and this can occasionally cause a noticeable jump in residuals. But, the accuracy of the converged results is not compromised.
