In this article, we explain how to modify the display resolution of independent curves (i.e. curves that are not connected to any surface or solid geometry) in Femap
Unlike most of the Graphics settings that can be found under Files > Preferences, the display resolution for independent curves are configured in a different location of the GUI. To adjust these settings:
1. Go to Tools menu > Parameters.
2. In the Dialog Box that appears, go to Curve Faceting section to modify such settings:
In case that you want to better understand what these visualization parameters represent (i.e. Angle Error, Chord Error and Curve Factor), you can refer to the following sections of the Femap documentation:
Tools > Parameters
Modify > Update Other > Solid Faceting
In the example below, we create an arc that represents a quarter of a circle (with Radius = 10) and modify the Angle Error to observe how the resolution improves. Please note that the red points have been projected onto the curve, which means that they should align with the arc. This alignment is achieved in the second image, where the resolution is higher, but not in the first image, where the resolution is lower.
Finally, please note that you may need to redraw the graphics window for these settings to take effect. For this, you can use the Window menu > Regenerate command.
