In this articles we are trying to show a way to use Tags for Parts in a template simulation with defined Mesh Operations, Surface Controls, Regions and Boundaries, based on Filters.
If we tag Parts and Part Surfaces as can be seen below, we can then use filters in existing Mesh Operations, Surface Controls, Regions and Boundaries to assign the Parts and Part Surfaces accordingly:
If the Operations and Regions already exist in a simulation and we replace the geometry, it is only needed to Tag the Parts and Part Surfaces and then the assignment is done automatically to the Operations, Regions and Boundaries via the Tag Filters.
The attached case shows exactly the points described above. We have two Parts with two Tags for each Part: SolidDomain and FluidDomain. These Tags are used in the Filter of the Mesh Operation to assign both Parts to the Mesh Operation. In the Tag Filter of the Surface Control, the Solid Part gets assigned to this Surface Control, where then we disable the Prism Layer Mesher in the Solid:
1. Assign Parts to the Mesh Operation via Tag and Filter to mesh both Parts:
2. Assign Solid Part to the Surface Control via Tag and Filter to disable Prism Layer Mesher in the Solid:
Additionally we can assign these two Parts to the Regions and Boundaries automatically, by applying Tag Filters of the two Parts and corresponding Part Surfaces:
1. Assign Fluid Parts to the Fluid Region via Tag and Filter:
2. Assign Solid Parts to the Solid Region via Tag and Filter:
We can see here an efficient way to assign Parts and Part Surfaces to other places in the Tree, by using Filters which use the Tag names as criteria for the selection.
