This will highlight some new features of Z-planner that improve the stackup design process. The software now includes enhanced stackup wizard, DFSI enhancements, more comprehensive library includes Dielectric selection for SI/PI integrity goals, new automation usability , enhanced stackups comparare functionality.
Q. How well integrated is Z-planner with other CAD tools?
A. Z-Planner integrates well with Ansys HFSS and Hyperlynx as simulation tools. It also supports import and export for popular CAD tools such as Xpedition, Allegro, and IPC-2581 format.
Q. How often is the library updated, and how do I get new materials added?
A. The material library is regularly updated. You will receive a notification to update when you open Z-planner and can choose to update immediately or later.
Q. You are showing dimensions in mils, are you able to show dual or in mm ,as in the UK mm is popular?
A. You can easily switch between metric and English units within the settings tab at any time.
Q. What is the easiest way to compare stackups from several PCB fabricators? Can this be automated?
A. The best way to compare multiple stackups is by using the compare tab ,where you can compare up to four stackups at a time. you can also create an automation process and use it through the automation tab.
Q. Are the Zplanner stackup files compatible between different versions? Are they backward and forward compatible?
A. Yes, they are. There's no problem moving between versions.
Q. Why are prepregs with resin content below 53% reported as DFM issue (even with copper utilization near 100%)?
A. The 53% is to make sure that there is sufficient resin to encapsulate either the glass or the copper, you can change this value in DFX settings to match your designs.
